Liz Wald has spent 20 years building online global marketplaces with a career that spans the early days of AOL, to the explosion of crowdfunding, to the current world of ethical commerce. Her areas of expertise include global operations, entrepreneurship, financial planning, market assessment, business development, and team building.
Ms. Wald is the Chief Operating Office of Piece & Co. which produces custom, artisan-made products and accessories for some of the world’s top designers and retail brands. As a for-profit, social enterprise, we are committed to fighting global poverty by providing sustainable employment opportunities to mainly female artisans in the developing world.
From 2013 to 2015 Wald headed the Global Technology & Design category at Indiegogo. In a GM-style role she led a cross-functional team in sales, marketing and product development to support entrepreneurs raising money for the products/companies that are changing the world of wearables, IoT, robotics, health & wellness, and many other technologies.
Prior to Indiegogo, Wald spent four years at Etsy running global operations, helping that company grow from $80M to $800M as it prepared to become at public entity. She also founded and managed a fair trade import business, Economic Development Imports (EDImports), a labor of love that grew from a decade of strategic consulting and retail management in the early days of the consumer internet and ecommerce platforms.
Wald holds a master’s of business administration (MBA) in marketing and finance from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School, and a BA in sociology from Harvard University. She is a board member of the Business Council for Peace, a nonprofit organization focused on creating employment for women around the world.
Liz makes her home in New York City and is an avid traveler for both work and pleasure, having had the good fortune to have visited more than 70 countries.
